“Jo, an negro servant to William Holbrooke of Scituate was sentenced to be publicly whipped ten stripes for committing fornication with Sarah Curtice of Scituate as upon oath she affirmed. Sentence executed.”
“Sarah Curtice was convicted by her own confession for fornication. Defendant was ordered to pay fine of 50s. or be publically whipped ten stripes. Fine paid.”
“Sarah Curtice…made oath in court…that Jo Negro and no other person is the real father of the bastard child lately born of her body and that he begot the same upon her. And she also confessed that she hat received fifty shilling of him since the birth of said child.”
